Yohance Marshall and Kevon Neaves

The University of South Florida men’s soccer team had four players selected to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's Division I All-Northeast Region Team.

“I am very happy for the players because they have worked so hard,” said USF head coach George Kiefer. “I know for all of them, our team’s success is more important, but I am happy to see their individual success as well.”

Seniors Yohance Marshall and Kevon Neaves were picked for the first team and senior Jordan Seabrook and sophomore Jeff Attinella were second team honorees.

Marshall, a defender from Malabar Arima, Trinidad, helped the Bulls to 12 shutouts in 22 games, breaking the school record for shutouts in a season. Marshall scored two goals and dished out two assists in the regular season. His six total points were the fourth-best on the team, despite being a defender. Marshall was also a first team All-BIG EAST selection and the BIG EAST Tournaments Most Outstanding Defensive Player. He also was named a Lowe’s Senior CLASS Finalists. Marshall also accumulated eight weekly awards throughout the year.

Neaves, a midfielder from Petit Valley, Trinidad, tallied 10 points this season, scoring three goals and dishing four assists. He was awarded his third-career BIG EAST award this year, a first-team nod, following his first-team selection last season. Neaves was named to the Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List, which is the most prestigious award in soccer.

Seabrook, a forward from Indianapolis, Ind., led the team with six goals, six assists and 16 points. The speedy forward started in all 22 games this year. He was named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team. Seabrook punched in a pair in the BIG EAST quarterfinals (11/9) against Georgetown.

Attinella, a goalkeeper from Safety Harbor, helped the Bulls break the single-season shutout record with 10 of the team’s total of 12. At one point, he was ranked second in the nation in goals against average and third in save percentage. He saved three PK’s in the Sweet 16 vs. UNC Greensboro to lead to Bulls to the Elite Eight.

Three teams of 11 athletes each were chosen for the All-Northeast Region teams. Twelve of the 33 players hailed from BIG EAST schools, with four from USF, three from St. John’s and University of Connecticut, two from West Virginia and one apiece from Syracuse and Georgetown.
