The University of Charleston men’s soccer program lost 3-2 in their second match of the season against California University of Pennsylvania last night at Triana Field.
As the second half began, the two teams continued to battle until Cal PA’s Justin Taucher ran onto a ball near the edge of the 18 yard box. As Golden Eagle keeper Sean Teepen came out, Taucher was able to collect it and put it into the back of the net to make it 3-2. UC made a late run with several opportunities in the last five minutes of the match, but couldn’t find the goal to tie it up. “We competed at a high level today. Cal PA has a great program that went to the NCAA National Tournament last year. I am very pleased with how we played and our key is to look back at the film to see what we can correct to make us stronger going into conference play,” Coach Duernberger stated. The Golden Eagles jump into WVIAC action tomorrow at Alderson Broaddus (5:00 pm).
