Senior forward Shastri Spencer scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season with 18 minutes left to lead East Stroudsburg University to an important PSAC men’s soccer victory with a 1-0 shutout of California on Saturday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Spencer’s unassisted goal gives the No. 20-ranked Warriors (9-3) a 5-3 PSAC record with just one more conference game remaining in the regular season, when they host Bloomsburg on Saturday, October 30. ESU has played the most PSAC games out of the 10 schools, but also has 15 points in hand entering the stretch run.

ESU held a 10-9 edge in shots and senior goalkeeper Troy Hernandez made one save for his fifth shutout of the year. Derek Yobbi, the PSAC leader with a 0.48 goals against average, had three saves for the Vulcans (7-3-2, 1-3-2).

Mike Feniger, the PSAC record holder with 76 career goals, was inducted into the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday morning. Feniger was a three-time NSCAA All-American, two-time PSAC Player of the Year and played on three straight PSAC championship teams from 1993-95 under head coach Jerry Sheska.

The Warriors will play five straight non-conference games before finishing the regular season vs. Bloomsburg in three weeks. Wilmington comes to Eiler-Martin Stadium for a 6:30 p.m. start time on Tuesday.
