Renato Ramlochan scored two goals, but the Newman men’s soccer team fell one goal short against No. 14 Truman, falling 3-2 Sunday afternoon in Kirksville, Mo. The loss dropped the Jets’ fall to 0-3 against nationally ranked opponents.

Truman (8-2-1) opened the match with two early goals. Bobby Larkin opened the scoring with a goal in the seventh minute and Matt Kimble added another goal for the Bulldogs in the 17th minute to give the Bulldogs an early 2-0 lead. Larkin scored his goal on a header off a free kick from Charlie Backus.

Renato Ramlochan put Newman (3-10) on the board in the 55th minute, as he received a cross pass from Marshall Johnson to net his first goal of the match.

The Bulldogs answered back in the 71st minute as Scott Biggerstaff kicked in a rebound to stretch their lead to 3-1. Biggerstaff’s goal proved to be the game winner.

Ramlochan scored his second goal off a free kick in the 83rd minute, but his efforts left the Jets one goal short of an upset bid.

Newman out-shot the Bulldogs 15-14, and James Esquivel ended the day with three saves.

With the loss, the Jets drop to 3-10 on the season. They will return to action on Oct. 27, as they travel to Oral Roberts for a 7 p.m match.
