East Stroudsburg University placed a conference-best four players on the All-PSAC men’s soccer team after reaching last week’s conference championship game, it was announced Tuesday.
Drago (Stroudsburg/Notre Dame) and Kane (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg) were both named to the All-PSAC team for the second time in their careers. Kane was a first team All-PSAC East selection at back last season and Drago was named first team All-PSAC East at back in 2008. The PSAC used a two-division setup those two seasons and is now selecting a single all-conference team.
Both redshirt seniors, Drago and Kane controlled the center of the midfield for the Warriors and combined for 10 goals and five assists. Drago was a two-time All-America selection at back and had four goals and two assists this season. He played in 88 career games, all starts, and started 71 straight games from 2006-09 before missing most of last season with a medical redshirt.
Kane, an NSCAA All-Region pick last year, had six goals and three assists, including two game-winning goals in overtime victories vs. Gannon and Bloomsburg, and the Warriors’ goal in the PSAC championship game at Shippensburg.
Spencer (Trinidad & Tobago/Notre Dame) was the Warriors’ leading scorer with seven goals and seven assists, playing a role in 14 of the squad’s 33 goals this season. One of the most dangerous attackers in the PSAC, Spencer assisted on Kevin Lombardo’s goal in a 1-0 win over Millersville in the PSAC semifinals and had a goal and two assists in a 3-2 win vs. Millersville earlier in the season. He also had a two-goal, two-assist game in a 6-3 win over Molloy.
Wallace (Westmoreland, Jamaica/Munro College) is the only freshman, as well as the only underclassman, on the All-PSAC first team and started all 20 games at back in his first year for the Warriors. He helped ESU lead the PSAC with a 0.85 goals against average, including eight shutouts in 18 games, and had two assists as a center back.
ESU has had at least four All-PSAC selections in 23 of its 29 seasons under head coach Jerry Sheska, a span that includes 15 conference titles. Sheska has coached a total of 69 players to All-PSAC status in his career.
