Akil George (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago) scored his third goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 17th minute for the early 1-0 advantage.
Baruch increased their lead to 2-0 in the 68th minute on a great effort by Fardad Sabzevari (Roslyn, NY). Sabzavari received a cross and fired a shot that was blocked by the goalkeeper, but he was in position to knock in the rebound during a quick second chance opportunity to score his first goal of the season.
Berkeley cut the score to 2-1 with a goal in the 81st minute, but the Baruch defense held on the rest of the way to record the 2-1 victory.
The Bearcats will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, September 10, with a 5:00 pm tournament game in the Valiants Classic against Vassar College from the Liberty League Conference. Tip off on the field at Manhattanville College is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
