Jefferson George, president of the Unified Football Coaches of T&T (UFCTT), says he is happy that the organisation has been finally admitted to the T&T Football Association (TTFA).
Having had a decision on their application delayed at last month’s annual general meeting (AGM), the UFCTT was admitted as a member of the TTFA at its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held virtually on Sunday.
Commenting on the Sunday’s process, George explained that it was just a matter of formalities with regards to the UFCTT’s admittance as part of the local football body.
He added, “The only issue that came up really was with the expulsion of the old Coaches Association and if it was really required because to be honest they are non-existent.
“At the end of the day we are very happy to be part of the TTFA and looking forward to working with all other members and playing our role in moving T&T football forward,” said George, a former national youth goalkeeper.
During the 2018 AGM, the TTFA Membership attempted to expel the Coaches Associations from the membership based on inactivity/dormancy.
However, this motion was not properly executed as per the TTFA constitution, and was deferred to Sunday’s EGM.
At present, the UFCTT has no fewer than 136 applications while its constitution was adopted and ratified by an EGM of its members on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
It was was drafted by Osmond Downer, president of the T&T Football Referees Association, who is also responsible for drafting the existing T&TFA constitution.
Other members of UFCTT includes Wayne Sheppard (First Vice-President), Rayshawn Mars (General Secretary), Johan Contaste (Assistant Secretary), Curtis Orr (treasurer), James Saunders (Media Officer), and Justin Reid (Public Relations Officer).
In addition to the expulsion of the Coaches Association and admittance of the UFCTT to the TTFA, the other issue that was discussed at Sunday’s EGM was the approval of the audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2019.
