Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is keeping an eye on Blues striker Jason Scotland who may not start another game for Paul Jewell due to a clause in his contract.
The bizarre clause, which would mean the 32-year-old getting an automatic year's extension on his Town deal should he make 19 starts for Ipswich, could see him starting many more games on the bench.
Although the Trinidad & Tobago international has only made 13 starts so far in ths campaign Jewell will be reluctant to start him unless they get really short in numbers.
Mowbray's assistant, and former Town legend, Mark Venus was at Portman Road recently to take a close look at Scotland for promotion-chasing Middlesbrough.
