Mekeil WilliamsNewly promoted side Pogon Szczecin has dumped former Trinidad and Tobago national U-23 defender Mekeil Williams after they won promotion to the Polish Premier League.

The former W Connection and San Juan Jabloteh center-back signed a 5 month loan deal in February of this year with the then First Division side Pogon Szczecin FC with an option to sign a 3 year deal should the club be promoted to the Polish Premier Division.

However, the club returned to top flight after finishing the 2011/12 First Division League as runners-up and went back on their word as Williams found himself on the breadline.

Williams, 21, is not giving up though and has a few trials underway, currently he is on trial with RTS Widzew Łódź, of the Ekstraklasa (Polish First Division). He will be playing today against Polonia Bytom.

Mekeil recently made his full senior team debut for Trinidad & Tobago senior team against Finland in January 2012, scoring his first international goal at the same time.

The hard working defender was one of the standout players for the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic team in it's failed attempt to reach the 2012 Olympic games in London.

The Soca Warriors Online (SWO) would like to extend best wishes to the player and good luck in your search for a new team.
