Newspaper reports coming out of Boston has said that Avery John was in a bust up with New England Revolution teammate and United States national player, Clint Dempsey last month in a training session. The reports said that both men threw hands at each other and the club boss had to settle the dispute.

But John cleared the air on Tuesday, saying that the players patched things up after a small scuffle.

Dempsey was USA’s scorer in a 2-1 loss to England on the weekend.

“It was one of those things that happen at the heat of the moment in training. He thought I deliberately elbowed him and he swung at me before I backed away. There was some tugging, but it was not a big deal to say we have any differences. We were even out having a drink after the next game,” said John, who played 90 minutes in Revolution’s 0-0 draw with Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

“At the moment, it’s good for me to be back with the national team and things have gone well under the new coach and things could get heated here too, because everyone is really trying to make things work.

“We’re just really focused on getting the three points from Panama on Saturday.”
