Cornell Glen notched a double and earned words of praise from Shillong Lajong FC head coach Thanboi Singo following the team’s 3-0 win over former Indian League champions Dempo SC on Sunday.

Glen was unstoppable and earned the man of the match award for his performance in his I-League debut against the former team of T&T midfielder Densill Theobald.

“A player (Glen) who has played in the [2006] World Cup...of course, we expect him to show that kind of class,” said Singto. “But then, sometimes in India it happens that top foreigners come and don’t click, sometimes mediocre players come and click.

“Whatever we have heard about Glen, he has proven to us and I hope this is not a one off performance. I hope he works hard and keeps doing better along with the team.”

“Football is a team game, so if you play as a team I think you can reach the next level. Of course, individual class like what Glen did helps, but for 90 minutes it’s the team,” Singto added.

Glen, a member of T&T’s 2013 Gold Cup squad, said he was settling in well since joining the team in July.

“I’ve settle in quite well and I’m happy to be scoring goals and helping the club to good results. Hopefully we can continue this for the rest of the season, “ Glen said.
