Clayton Ince has returned to the United Kingdom after nearly a month away with his national side to open contract talks with his advisor Mike Berry and Crewe Alexandra manager Dario Gradi.
Ince has been offered a two-year deal with the club following a successful six seasons at Gresty Road and Dario already stated last week that he would be 'delighted' if Ince penned a new contract with the club he joined from Defence Force for £50,000 in September 1999.
Ince, 32, has been involved in Trinidad and Tobago's World Cup warm-up matches, but was surprisingly left out of the qualifying tie with Panama after complaining of back spasms. Although he was reported to have had a public fall-out with Trinidad and Tobago boss Leo Beenhakker, he is still expected to be named in his squad for the forthcoming Gold Cup in the United States. The highly demanding competition would greatly interfere with our pre-season planning with the final, if the Soca Warriors were to reach it, not taking place until 24th July.
Ince is set to discuss his offer of a new two-year contract with his advisor before seeking talks with the Football Club, but he remains hopeful that things will come to a resolution before the set deadline of June 30th.
Ince told crewealex.net: "I'm back in the country now and will be speaking to my agent and Dario about the offer of the contract. I've been away for nearly a month now with Trinidad and it has been a busy time, but now I have to sort out my future.
"I remain hopeful that I will be staying at Crewe. I will have to speak to Dario before I consider going away for the Gold Cup. It is a busy schedule for everyone involved."
