T&T defender Aubrey David is looking forward to his entrance into American Major League Soccer (MLS) after completing a six-month loan move to FC Dallas from Costa Rican champions Deportivo Saprissa earlier this week.

David, formerly of Caledonia AIA, joins fellow countrymen Cordell Cato, Kevin Molino, Mekeil Williams and Joevin Jones as a few of the regulars in the T&T team, currently plying their trade in the MLS. They also join a growing list of TT players to have played in the USA top flight league, led by Stern John and includes Evans Wise, Ansil Elcock, Mickey Trotman, David Nakhid, Avery John, Cornell Glen and Shaka Hislop among others.

“I am happy about the move to Dallas and I thank God for this opportunity. It’s another opportunity to showcase my talent on the MLS level similar to what many players from T&T have done already,” David said. He noted “I’m more excited about playing in the same league as my fellow teammates like Joevin, Molino, Cato and Mekeil. They have all been doing well and I hope I can follow their success and achieve something on a similar scale.”

T&T face the United States in its closing semi-final round CONCACAF World Cup qualifier in Jacksonville, Florida on September 6th and David is eager to come face to face with some of his potential rivals before September.

“At the moment I’m staying focused on the Guatemala and USA games. I think the opportunity for me to play in the US comes at a good time as I will get the chance to become a bit more accustomed to the conditions as well as the styles of some of the guys on the US team. Hopefully I will be able to face up with them before that but I mean generally football is a game where you are teammates one day and you can be on opposing teams the next day so it’s just an experience I am looking forward to” he said.

Twenty-year-old Kellyn Acosta will be the only USA team player to be lining up with David at the club, but could face Brek Shea when Dallas takes on Molino’s Orlando City on July 4. San Jose Earthquakes, which Dallas faces on July 8th, is the team of US duo Chris Wondolowski and Marc Pelosi, while David will come up against Clint Dempsey and Jones on July 13th when Seattle Sounders are on the opposing side.

Dallas takes on Jermaine Jones and Tim Howard’s Colorado Rapids on July 23rd. For this campaign, the CONCACAF Final round starts two months after the end of the semi-final round for the first time since 1998 as the “Hex” would usually begin the following year.
