Striker Stern John could make a rare appearance in a Derby County shirt today.

John, who has not figured for more than five weeks, is likely to be one of a number of senior players lining up in a private friendly against Tottenham Hotspur at Moor Farm.

Tottenham are also expected to field a strong team and could include former Rams star Grzegorz Rasiak.

John's three-month loan expires on December 17 when he will return to Coventry City.

The Trinidad and Tobago international's last game for Derby came in the home defeat by Queens Park Rangers at the end of October.

Jeff Kenna, Paul Peschisolido, Morten Bisgaard, Michael Johnson, Paul Boertien and Danny Graham are also set to face Tottenham.

Kenna and Peschisolido are not figuring in Phil Brown's first-team plans at the moment. Both players are out of contract in the summer and have yet to be offered new deals.

Bisgaard and Johnson have also lost their places in the first team. Both were unused substitutes in Saturday's victory over Norwich City.

While John is short of games at Derby, so is Rasiak at Tottenham.

He has made only three appearances since his move earlier this season. His last, as a late substitute, was back in September.

The Polish international grabbed his first goal for the club in a recent reserve team win against Portsmouth but is fourth choice behind Ahmed Mido, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.

Mido, who is on loan from AS Roma until the end of the season, could miss up to four games in January because of his involvement with Egypt in the African Cup of Nations.

A number of clubs are watching Rasiak's situation closely and would be keen to take the Pole on loan.

Derby have made it known that they would be very interested if the player was allowed to leave White Hart Lane either on loan or permanently.
