MARVIN ANDREWS today geared up for Rangers make- or-break Champions League showdown with Inter Milan and urged his team-mates: "Don't let this chance pass us by."

The big stopper knows the embattled Ibrox side can create history tonight by becoming the first Scottish club to make the knock-out stages.

A win over Roberto Mancini's men would take Andrews and his team-mates into the last 16 - with even a draw or defeat possibly enough, depending on what happens between Artmedia and Porto.

With the axe set to fall on beleaguered boss Alex McLeish in the next day or so, it is bound to be a tense night against the Serie A stars.

Rangers have already secured the Uefa Cup parachute - but there is only one kind of European football Andrews wants next February. He insisted: "What the club has been dying for is success in Europe. For so many years Scottish teams have always failed when they come to this stage.

"Nobody has managed to get over the barrier and take part in the next round of the Champions League.

"We are so determined that we will be the team who finally makes it and put Rangers where they rightfully belong, on the European map.

"It will show people that Scottish football is not as bad as some would have you think.

"We are only striving for the best that we can get and the Uefa Cup is the last thing on our minds.

"We are determined to take this club to the next stage and create history. We can't let this pass us by."

Inter left eight first- team players behind, as they have already won Group H and booked their place in the last 16.

However, one of the world's most fearsome strikers, Brazilian power-house Adriano, is in Glasgow and Mancini has hinted he may start.

Andrews would then face the task of shackling the Inter star, but knows that's a challenge he will need to face head on.

"Inter have so many quality players that whichever team they send out, it will be a hard game. We just have to fight to the very end and do everything we can," Andrews said.

"Adriano is one of the best in the business. But these are the challenges of the Champions League."

McLeish again refused to be drawn on his future, but will head for a meeting with chairman David Murray after the Inter game.

He is likely to leave Rangers later this week, with speculation over his successor continuing to mount.

But the Gers boss said: "It's all about the team and qualification in this competition. That's it. It's not about me. This is a Champions League game we're looking forward to here and it shouldn't be negative."

McLeish has seven players out injured - Julien Rodriguez, Olivier Bernard, Alex Rae, Brahim Hemdani, Nacho Novo, Dado Prso and Federico Nieto - and the manager knows that his options are limited.
