Midfielder Aurtis Whitley, back in T&T after a two-week trial with English Premiership club Portsmouth, says he would not be taking up any offer to play overseas until after the World Cup.

The CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh player returned last week after training throughout his stay in England with the Portsmouth first team

He said he was satisfied with his showing, but has decided not to take up any overseas offers until after the World Cup.

Whitley said he prefers to focus on cementing his place in the T&T squad for the World Cup.

“I felt good out there for the two weeks. They made me feel comfortable at the club and everything was just in place to play football.

“I thought I gave it a good shot, but even before I went up I explained to my agent that I probably would not rush to sign any deal until after the World Cup and he agreed, but he wanted me to come up and get a good feel of the conditions.

“I really want to put everything towards my place on the team that goes to the World Cup,” Whitley said.

Ricky Hill his agent will be in contact with Portsmouth for further developments, Whitley said.

Whitley started in a Reserve match against Coventry City before being substituted in the 75th minute.

“The game itself was a competitive one. Everyone knows it’s cold up there, but I wasn’t uncomfortable. I played my football and I will see what happens from here,” Whitley added.

Fellow Jabloteh team-mate, Cyd Gray, is still at Luton Town on trial.
