SWANSEA CITY defender Dennis Lawrence could make a surprise return from injury as early as Saturday manager Kenny Jackett has revealed.

The 6ft 7in defender is stepping up his rehabilitation this week in order to get himself ready for the visit of Bradford City.

The 32-year-old Trinidad and Tobago World Cup star featured only twice for Swansea since his £75,000 move from Wrexham before a groin injury sustained in the Carling Cup first-round defeat by Wycombe a fortnight ago put him out of action.

It was feared that Lawrence would be out for six weeks, but there is a chance he could be back in a fraction of that time.

"He has had a good couple of days training with my physio and now I've been told he should be back training with the boys by Thursday and that there is a outside chance for being fit for Saturday," said Jackett.
