Chris Birchall has made the transition to Championship football a seamless one having joined the Sky Blues during the summer.

Following his £300k move from Port Vale, the World Cup star - who impressed during Germany 2006 against the likes of Gerrard and Lampard - has shown that he can more than deal with the rigours of Championship football.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Blues World the 22-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international admits that it has been a big step-up from League One but that he is enjoying every minute of it.

"It has been a big step-up from League One but I always had confidence in myself that I could do it. When I was playing in League One I always believed I could make the step-up and thanks to Coventry they gave me the chance and threw me straight in.

"It wasn't as if I came in and was playing reserve team football and trying to battle my way in. The gaffer stuck me straight in because he believes I can play.

"I've played in numerous positions now and I'm just enjoying playing at the higher Championship level."
