Steve Bruce hailed Dwight Yorke as the former Villa star scored a superb header on his Blues home debut.
The 32-year-old earned Blues a point against a dogged Charlton team on a frustrating afternoon for Bruce's men.
He thundered home a Muzzy Izzet corner after coming off the bench to lift the gloom around St Andrew's.
And Bruce admitted that he didn't care about Yorke's past record with Blackburn, claiming he would play a big role this season.
"I am not interested in what has happened before with Dwight as I know he will be a big addition to the squad," said Bruce.
"He proved that with a great header. He has got a great goal-scoring record and it is a fantastic start for him.
"He's bound to be disappointed at not starting but his attitude since he has been with us in everything he has done has been absolutely excellent."
