FALKIRK veteran Russell Latapy is looking forward to a well-earned rest after admitting he's feeling tired.

The 38-year-old is without a match this weekend after the Bairns' Scottish Cup hopes ended with a surprise 3-0 defeat to St Johnstone in the fourth round.

Latapy considered hanging up his boots after playing in the World Cup in the summer but was persuaded to carry on by John Hughes.

He has played in all but two of Falkirk's matches this term and has turned in a string of man-of-the-match displays.

Now also a part of Hughes' coaching staff, Latapy said: "I'm not surprised to have played so much.

"I'm delighted as you just don't know how much your body can take.

"I'm a seasoned pro but it's just that age takes its toll. I've played in the majority of the games this season, so I just need to look after myself.

"I'll do what is required because what's most important is that the team do well.

"Mentally I'm fine, it's just physically at times. I start games really well but realise that in the last 20 minutes or so I'm fading a bit.

"I've looked after myself but getting old is just one of those things."
