Jason Norville is not likely to play again this season.
Only 24 hours after physiotherapist Ato Chandler had reported that the 22-year-old Trinidadian striker was back in full training and might make a comeback in the Herts Senior Cup semi-final against Bishops Stortford on Tuesday, manager Paul Fairclough announced after training on Friday that Norville had again broken down.
"It's not quite back to square one, but not far off", said Fairclough. "It is a bitter blow and the lad is devastated. He is not likely to feature again this season and I am not sure where we go from here".
The injury-hit Norville, who said at the Swindon game this week that he was looking forward to sprinting again next week and coming back as "almost a new player", has been restricted by a hamstring problem to one start and three substitute appearances this season. In all he has scored three goals in 11 appearances (20 as substitute) since signing from Watford at the start of last season.
