TRINIDAD AND Tobago ace Stern John has told Rangers boss Alex McLeish: "Come and get me."
The plea comes ahead of tonight's friendly against Northern Ireland at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago.
The Birmingham City hotshot, who is currently out of contract at St Andrews, is hoping to use this evening's match to try and convince McLeish that he should be brought to Glasgow on a this summer to partner new recruit Dado Prso.
The 27-year-old is desperate to join his international team-mate Marvin Andrews at Ibrox and proved last Sunday how lethal he can still be in front of goal by finding the net against Scotland in Trinidad and Tobago's shock 4-1 defeat.
John joined Birmingham from Nottingham Forest for pounds 2.5million in February 2002 and has been offered a new one year contract by Blues' supremo Steve Bruce.
But with England star Emile Heskey now on board, John is not guaranteed first team football at the St Andrews club and that is a major priority for him at this stage of his career - so he's decided to look elsewhere.
John reveals: "My contract is up and Birmingham have offered me a new one year deal.
"I'm not happy at all with the deal they have put on the table because I was hoping for a two year contract.
"But Steve Bruce has just signed Emile Heskey for a lot of money and Mikael Forsell has extended his loan too, so there are going to be five strikers at St Andrews next season.
"That means I may not be first choice, so it's fair to say I'm looking at all my options and Scotland definitely interests me. I wouldn't have a problem moving there - especially to Rangers.
"They are a massive club with a highly talented manager and of course my friend Marvin Andrews will be there next season."
John has the utmost repect for the Gers boss after McLeish tried to sign him six years ago while at Motherwell.
He was brought on trial to Fir Park, impressed fellow players and management, but he was refused a work permit because at that time he hadn't played enough games for his country.
But in recent years he has excelled scoring 40 goals in 50 games and is now considered Trinidad and Tobago's key player.
