TONY Warner says he would not have signed for Hull City if he had foreseen his current status as third-choice goalkeeper.
Behind established number one Boaz Myhill and long-standing understudy Matt Duke, Warner's only involvement came as an unused sub in the League Cup exit at Swansea.
Despite a frustrating start to life at the KC Stadium, the former Liverpool youth product is determined to force his way into manager Phil Brown's thoughts.
He said: "If the manager had said you're going to be number three I wouldn't have signed. That wasn't the brief, but that is the way it has turned out.
"Is it something I agree with? No. But that's football and things can change tomorrow.
"You can't be down on yourself and say 'this is my lot and it's not getting any better' because sometimes it does."
Warner, who penned a two-year deal in July, met with Brown this week to discuss his long-term prospects.
With reserve team football currently his only outlet, Warner believes his past top-flight experience can be called upon.
"Everyone wants to be playing first-team football but just to be involved in a first-team squad would be nice" he said.
"That hasn't really happened yet and that's frustrating. I played in this league for Fulham last year and I've been around a lot. Not to be used is frustrating.
"I feel as though I'm doing well myself so I wanted to know if and when an opportunity was going to come round."
