Clayton Ince has urged Walsall not to waste time in offering him a new contract as he waits for talks to begin.
The 36-year-old is free to speak to other clubs come January, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Swansea and Nottingham Forest were keen admirers of Ince in the previous transfer window and, while negotiations with Walsall are expected imminently, Ince reckons they have to reflect his value to the team.
He said: “They haven’t talked yet but, as I perform at my best, something will come up and if they don’t talk to me soon they will lose big time.
“If you have something, the saying is you should protect what you have, because you don’t know what you might get.
“They should know what they have and it is up to the club to appreciate and give something back. It is all up to them.
“As I keep fit and play well anything could happen in the long run, so never leave it too late.”
The Trinidad and Tobago international starred in the stalemate at Whaddon Road.
The draw still stretched the Saddlers’ run to just three wins in their last 14 games but Ince believes it will mark a turning point in their poor form.
He said: “”For 14 games we really haven’t put in a good run of four or five games together and I think this is the start of it. It is about time because we haven’t had the best of times in the last 14 games.”
