Stern JohnSTERN John appears to have played his last game for Saints.

Manager Jan Poortvliet told shareholders at the AGM this lunchtime that the striker was on a season long loan to Bristol City.

Previously, it was thought John's loan spell at Ashton Gate was due to end this month.

As John's two year contract is up next summer, it looks like the man whose goals kept Saints up last season will not be playing for the club again.

Poortvliet did say that Marek Saganowski was expected back at Saints next week, though, as Danish club Aalborg have shown no signs they want to keep him.

Former Scottish international Bruce Rioch was the manager who took Saganowski on loan last August, but he has since been sacked.

Poortvliet was continually quizzed by shareholders about his formations this season, but re-iterated he did not believe it was the one-up-front system which has been the catalyst to Saints' bad results.
