Randanfah Abu Bakr could be heading back to Caledonia.Swansea City have begun trimming their squad by telling Radanfah Abu Bakr that he will not be offered a long-term deal.

The Trinidad & Tobago international defender has spent the last three months at the Liberty.

But Abu Bakr has failed to break into Paulo Sousa's first-team plans and will be released when the short-term agreement he signed in the autumn expires on January 1.

The 22-year-old has played regularly for Swansea's reserves, but has not managed a senior appearance.

Challenge

"Radanfah's deal finishes at the end of the month and we will not be offering him anything," said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.

"He is a young boy who was brought in on a long-term trial basis.

"I think he has enjoyed his time here, but Paulo (Sousa) has to look for players who will challenge for places in his first team and, at this stage, Radanfah is not ready for that."
