Bolton's Jlloyd Samuel has admitted he may have to go abroad in order to kick-start his career when his contract expires next summer.
The 29-year-old has not played since last March and has been frozen out of the first-team since the arrival of Paul Robinson from West Brom.
Samuel ruptured a thigh muscle three weeks ago, and underwent surgery last Saturday, which will keep him out for three months.
Bolton have yet to contact the Trinidad and Tobago international about a contract extension, despite the fact he has less than a year on his present deal.
Samuel said: 'I just want to get fit and playing really. I'm hoping to be back by January and then I will definitely look at my contract situation.
'It might be the case that I have to go elsewhere or even abroad to get my career going again.'
