Ipswich Town striker Jason Scotland says he wants to remain at Portman Road next season.

The 32-year-old was close to making a return to former club Swansea before the loan deadline last month.

But Town's 10-goal league top scorer insists that he will not be looking for a move away over the summer.

"I want to be here, I've got another year on my contract, the manager wants us to be pushing for promotion," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"He will bring in new players as well, maybe other players might be leaving, contract talks are still ongoing with various players.

"We want to be in the top half pushing for promotion and I want to be a part of that."

Since arriving from Wigan in August, Scotland has failed to hit the heights of his previous spell in the Championship, when he scored 45 times in 90 league appearances for Swansea.

The Trinidad & Tobagoan's 10 goals this season have come from 44 games and his strike in Saturday's 2-1 win over Preston was his first in 10 weeks.

"It's been a disappointing season in the main but I'm happy I got double figures," he said.

"[When] I came into the dressing room I guaranteed the boys 20 goals, nothing less than 15, and I'm five short of that.

"There was a bit of banter in the dressing room but I'm disappointed that I haven't got as many as I should."
