Dario Gradi will stick with Clayton Ince for the clash with Plymouth Argyle despite his mistake costing us against Reading on Tuesday evening. Ince knows he is under pressure from the equally competent Ben Williams and Stuart Tomlinson, but the Trinidad and Tobago keeper has not made many errors since regaining his place from Williams in early November.

Ince came for a high ball on Tuesday and under pressure didn't get enough on it thus allowing Dave Kitson to turn it over for an equaliser with 20 minutes remaining - but the Crewe boss is standing by his man and admits he can excuse the odd error from his decisive keeper.

Dario told crewealex.net: "Clayton didn't do too well for the goal but he will know that. He is usually so good coming for those high balls, and I have already stated that I've not seen a goalkeeper as good as him when it goes down to coming for crosses. He is exceptional.

"He made an error trying to catch it and then didn't do too well when he recovered and went back onto his line, but the most worrying thing for me, is that he thought twice about coming for the next one. I don't mind him coming for them at all because he has saved us countless points in the past.

"Therefore, I'm willing to accept the odd clanger every now and again and won't change things because he has made one mistake. If you change then you have to give the other lads a run in the side, and that is what happened at the top clubs. Fergie has stood by his goalkeeper after he has made a mistake, same at Liverpool and it has been the same at Arsenal this season.

He added: "These things have a way of sorting themselves out and we have three quality goalkeepers here, who are all doing well in training. We have never been in a better position with goalkeepers during my time here at Crewe, that's for sure."
