Trinidad and Tobago winger Lester Peltier scored a first half double and set up another to guide AS Trencin to a 4-0 win over FC Tatran Pesov in the Slovak First League on Saturday.
Peltier took on two defenders before seeing his shot parried, allowing teammate Boris Godal to score on the rebound to put Trencin 1-0 ahead in the fourth minute.
Peltier then scored his team’s third goal in the 29th minute and followed up with another clinical finish three minutes before half time.
“I was really happy to be back among the goals today. The coach had the confidence to put me in the starting team and I repaid him by getting the two goals.
The win was an important one for us because it ensured that are our confidence is growing and we’re hoping to continue our winning ways for the remaining games,” Peltier said.
In other news, Carlos Edwards and Jason Scotland both saw action in Ipswich Town’s 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough in the English Championship on Saturday.
Scotland had an effort which came back off the woodwork. He was substituted in the 85th minute after receiving a knock but was not reported to have suffered any serious injury that could force him out of action.
English-based midfielder Andre Boucaud also played the full 90 in York City’s 3-0 win over Luton Town in the English Conference League. Collin Samuel was not in the Luton team for the encounter.
T&T national coach Otto Pfister will resume training with a squad of players on Monday at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
For the upcoming qualifiers against Barbados and Bermuda, T&T will be missing Kenwyne Jones (hamstring) and Darryl Roberts (fractured elbow) as well as Jlloyd Samuel who has again asked to be excused due to his unattached status at the moment.
