Former Defence Force ace forward Devorn Jorsling has joined hometown club Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille during the December transfer window.
The 28 yearold striker became a free agent after his stint with American USL side Orlando City FC, and will line-up for Caledonia for the remainder of the 2011-12 season which ends next May.
“He is contracted with the obligation that if he gets the opportunity to play in the A-League or MLS, he is free to go,” explained Caledonia head coach Jamaal Shabazz.
“Devorn is a player constantly looking to continue playing in the US and because of this desire we are willing to help him fulfill his dreams.”
Jorsling who has been among the top goalscorers in recent seasons, finished the 2010-11 TT Pro League season as top scorer prior to his move to the United States where he continued his scoring form.
“I feel very good to have Devorn,” continued Shabazz. “He was with us some years ago when he came from W Connection and at that time he was still growing. And now in my opinion he is one of the top strikers in the Caribbean and the (TT Pro) League.
More importantly is the fact that he is from Morvant and went to school there.
He can be a tremendous inspiration in our community work with the young people of Morvant/Laventille. Devorn alongside Ataullah Guerra, Akim Armstrong, Keyon Edwards and Kareem Joseph are all players born and bred in the Morvant/Laventille communities.
Our job now is to market them as examples to the youths of our communities,” said the Caledonia boss.
Shabazz added that it has always been a dual focus for Caledonia, “Winning trophies, but more importantly, making a positive impact on the lives of young people especially in the east west corridor.”
Caledonia travels to central Trinidad on Tuesday to meet W Connection from 6pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Round Two Match Day One with the opportunity of showcasing latest signings Jorsling and Ataullah Guerra.
