Defence Force on Friday night registered a biggest 2012-2013 Digicel Pro League win as St. Ann's Rangers conceded the worst defeat.
The Soldiers extended its lead at the top of the standings in style with an 8-0 finish, bettering Caledonia AIA's 6-0 and W Connection's 7-0 wins respectively over T&TEC in round one.
Defence Force (19 points) stretched a six-point gap ahead of second positioned Caledonia (13 points) thanks to a hattrick by Kevon Carter, a pair each from Jerwyn Balthazar and Devorn Jorsling, and one from substitute Richard Roy.
It was a clear backlash suffered by Rangers after losing defenders Elijah Belgrave and Christon Thomas to Police FC this week during the December/January transfer window and striker Hector Sam to Central FC.
Belgrave and Thomas were in winners row earlier at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium when Police defeated T&TEC 2-0.
But in the second Round Two Match Day One fixture at the Marabella venue it was a miserable night for their now former teammates, especially goalkeeper Zane Coker.
Rangers were 4-0 down and crashed further as Defence Force matched its scoring rate with four more in the second period for an 8-0 finish.
Carter opened the scoring in the 21st minute before being interrupted by a first half double by Balthazar netting from distance in the 31st and 43rd minutes.
Carter then wrapped up the first half scoring in injury time of the first half and completed his hat-trick by the 68th minute.
Teammate Jorsling was sharp with a pair of goals from close up in the 66th and 73rd minutes and Roy wrapped up the scoring with a rocket in the 78th minute.
