POLICE midfielder Kaaron Foster suffered the most by having been issued a nine-match ban handed out by the disciplinary committee of the Digicel Pro League, arising out of the February 27 fracas in a match against Point Fortin Civic at Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.
Police had five players suspended and were also fined $15,000. Heavily sanctioned were Kaaron Foster, who was suspended for nine matches, while both Noel Williams and Theon Browne were suspended for six matches apiece.
Police footballers Jasimar Ashers and Shaquille Nesbit both received two-match suspensions. Additionally, Point Fortin Civic were fined $20,000, while three players; Garyl Doldron, Glen Sutton and Andre Ettienne were all suspended for two matches apiece.
The police football team will probably meet on Monday to discuss whether or not they will appeal the decision. A scheduled meeting yesterday did not come off. “We have five players who are not available, one up to nine games,” head-coach Richard Hood said after the judgment.
“We are affected because we do not have a large roster of players,” added Hood, who said the police team is already affected by its players having to take up duties and also not having total control over several non-paid civilian players on the roster.
Yesterday, the Pro League issued a release which stated: “Headed by chairman Attorney-at-Law Ricardo Williams, the Disciplinary Committee, which acts on behalf, but independent of the Pro League, met on Thursday March 5 and Monday March 9, 2015, with regard to the brawl involving Police Football Club and Point Fortin Civic Football Club during the clubs’ round two match, day nine fixture, of the Digicel Pro League 2014-2015 at the Marvin Lee Stadium on Friday February 27, 2015.
The committee gave consideration to the match commissioner’s report, referee’s report, video evidence and oral, as well as the FIFA Disciplinary Code 2011.”

Eight players banned, $35,000 in fines
Police FC midfielder Kaaron Foster had his 2014/2015 Digicel T&T Pro League season came to an abrupt halt after he was slapped with a nine-match ban while team-mates Noel Williams and Theon Browne were hit with six match bans each.
This was for their involvement in a brawl which erupted mere minutes before the final whistle of a Round Two, Match Day Nine fixture against Pt Fortin Civic at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, on February 27. Headed by chairman, Attorney-at-Law Ricardo Williams, the Disciplinary Committee, which acts on behalf of, but independent of the League, met on March 5 and 9 with regards to the brawl involving both clubs which Pt Fortin won 3-1.
In handing down their punishments, the committee also gave consideration to the match commissioner’s report, referee’s report, video evidence and oral, as well as the FIFA Disciplinary Code 2011.
And in addition to Foster, Williams and Browne, Police duo, Jasimar Ashers and Shaquille Nesbitt will also serve two match bans while the club was slapped with a $15,000 fine.
Pt Fortin trio, Garyl Doldron, Glen Sutton and Andre Ettienne, have also been suspended for two matches each, while the club will have to pay a hefty fine of $20,000. Ironically, both Police and Pt Fortin were in action on Wednesday at the same venue where both recorded victories. In the opener, Jamille Boatswain scored a first-half brace as Pt Fortin Civic continued its climb up the table after spanking Play Whe San Juan Jabloteh 5-1 while Police FC needed a Makesi Lewis second-half double to hold off bottom club St Ann’s Rangers 4-3.
Speaking after the match, La Forest, who previously coached defunct clubs, Joe Public and Ma Pau, as well as San Juan Jabloteh in the Pro League and Super League’s Guaya United admitted his team was in poor form. “We are in a slump right now, dead last. So we would want to at least put some points on the board so that our players can start to feel like humans.”
The no-nonsense coach added: “I’m here for the rest of the season for observation. Also the guys play pretty well but they lack what we call football discipline so I am trying to instil football discipline in them to get results.”
Jason Spence, who started the season as coach, returns to his former position as team manager while former T&T and Rangers player and coach Dean Pacheco will continue to serve as assistant coach. Matches resume on Tuesday.
The outcomes of the Committee’s deliberations are as follows:
Police FC
