Morvant Caledonia, Rangers hunt points

Cur­rent­ly, De­fence Force which last won the Pro League crown in the 2012/2013 sea­son leads the 11-club ta­ble with 13 points from five match­es, af­ter drop­ping their first points of the cam­paign in a 1-1 draw with San Juan Jabloteh on Tues­day night at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo.

Three points back in the sec­ond spot is Po­lice FC with ten points from six match­es fol­lowed by Mor­vant Cale­do­nia and Rangers with nine points each from six and five match­es re­spec­tive­ly, while Cen­tral FC is next with eight points from six match­es.

Tonight (Fri­day, Jan­u­ary 17), Mor­vant Cale­do­nia will come up against Pt Fortin Civic in the first match of a dou­ble-head­er at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo from 6 pm.

For Mor­vant Cale­do­nia first-year coach, for­mer na­tion­al cap­tain Den­sil Theobald it will be a chance for his team to put an end to their in­con­sis­tent form, high­light­ed by Tues­day's 2-1 loss to Cen­tral FC, while Pt Fortin will be buoyed by their first win of the sea­son in the pre­vi­ous round, 3-1 over fel­low strug­glers, Tiger Tanks Club San­do.

Two hours lat­er at Mu­cu­rapo, AC Port-of-Spain, com­ing off a 1-0 tri­umph against cel­lar-placed Cunu­pia FC comes up against de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons W Con­nec­tion, who are com­ing off a bye, af­ter a 1-0 loss to De­fence Force at Mu­cu­rapo.

Up at the La Hor­quet­ta Recre­ation Ground, Phase II, La Hor­quet­ta from 6 pm, free-scor­ing La Hor­quet­ta Rangers, 2-1 vic­tors against Po­lice FC on Tues­day last, en­ter­tain strug­gling Tiger Tanks Club San­do, who are win­less in their last five match­es, putting coach An­gus Eve un­der pres­sure.

Rangers will go in­to the match with­out the ser­vices of de­fend­er Caleb Sturge af­ter he was is­sued a 12th-minute red card in his team's win over Po­lice FC.
