For­mer na­tion­al Un­der-23 mid­field­er Kishun Seecha­ran scored a first-half dou­ble to lead Ter­minix La Hor­quet­ta Rangers past Po­lice FC 2-0 in a key 2019/2020 T&T Pro League match at La Hor­quet­ta Recre­ation Ground, Phase II, La Hor­quet­ta on Tues­day night.

With the win, Rangers im­proved to 29 points from 15 match­es on the 11-team ta­ble and five match­es left to play to com­plete their cam­paign while three-time T&T Pro League cham­pi­ons De­fence Force and 18-time na­tion­al league win­ners De­fence Force leads with 32 points from 14 match­es and well on course for a first league crown since 2012-2013 while Po­lice FC stayed third with 23 points from 16 match­es.

The 23-year-old Seecha­ran who had stints pre­vi­ous­ly at De­fence Force, Cen­tral FC and North East Stars opened the scor­ing in the 18th minute and added the sec­ond on the stroke of half-time to give his team a com­fort­able lead at the break which they held on­to in the sec­ond half with­out con­ced­ing.

Down at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um, Cou­va in the oth­er match on sched­ule na­tion­al beach soc­cer play­er Kevon "Show­time" Wood­ley con­tin­ued to im­press in his quest for se­nior na­tion­al foot­ball team call-up by net­ting the de­ci­sive item in Cunu­pia FC's 2-1 de­feat of AC Port-of-Spain.

Shem Clauzel, the son of long-time stand­out Ian "The Dread­ed Drib­bler" Clauzel hand­ed AC Port-of-Spain the lead a minute be­fore the half-time in­ter­val.

Nine min­utes af­ter the restart, Gio­van­ni Abra­ham drew Cunu­pia FC lev­el and 12 min­utes be­fore the fi­nal whis­tle, Wood­ley banged in the match-win­ner, to earn his team on­ly their sec­ond win in 15 match­es this cam­paign.

Last night (Wednes­day, March 4), De­fence Force h had a chance to re­store its nine-point lead when they face San Juan Jabloteh at Cou­va from 6 pm fol­lowed by Mor­vant Cale­do­nia and Cen­tral FC at the same venue two hours lat­er, while Pt Fortin Civic host­ed Club San­do at Ma­haica Oval.
