MIDFIELDER Kelvin Hernandez was adjudged as the “Most Valuable Player” (MVP) for United Petrotrin’s football team during the 2005 T&T Pro League season.
 This announcement was made on Monday night, as the team staged their prize-giving ceremony at the Petrotrin’s Sports Club, Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre. Hernandez, recovering from a season-ending right knee injury, played both defence and midfield for Petrotrin during their debut stint in the Pro League. The former Starworld Strikers player also netted six goals for the club in League action this year. Hernandez, fellow midfielders Lee Haynes and Brent Garcia, defender Brendon Christopher and goalkeeper Ken Francis were named as the “Five Players of the Year” by the club.

Christopher was named as the “Most Improved Player”, while Reon Pegus was voted the “Most Disciplined Player” and Jerol Forbes the Leading Goalscorer with seven goals. Also coming in for high praise during the awards were ex-Strike Squad players Brian Williams (coach), Philbert Jones (assistant coach) and Larry Joseph (manager), as well as Edgar Vidale (technical director), who took the team from a struggling assortment of players in the beginning of the season to the Lucozade Sport “Big Six” title earlier this month. The Petrotrin team is Anthony Rougier (captain), Perry Martin, Lee Haynes, Felix Seales, Beville Joseph, Brendon Christopher, Wendell Douglas, Brent Garcia, Willan Garcia, Andy Alves, Kennedy Hinkson, Al Sinclair, Jeremy Thomas, Reon Pegus, Franklyn Alexander, Dwayne Ellis, Jamal Ayres, Jerol Forbes, Andre Charles, Peter Prosper, Kevon Clement, Marlon Lewis, Kelvin Hernandez and Ken Francis.
