United Petrotrin returned to Trinidad on Monday afternoon from their one week pre-season training camp in Guyana boasting of an unbeaten record in all three matches played as they prepare for the upcoming Pro League season.

The Pro League Club enjoyed wins against Fruta Conquerors, Pele FC and Alpha United with scores 1-0, 1-0 and 3-0 respectively.

Petrotrin’s Head Coach Brian Williams returned a pleased man as he looks to make his final cut over the next few days.

He told ‘ttproleague.com’, “It was a very successful trip. We achieved what we wanted and that’s to get the guys playing together as a unit. There was good camaraderie between the players and overall they all enjoyed the camp.”

“It was a very intensive camp; we trained everyday in Guyana even twice some days. The three matches we played were great. I am pleased with what I saw from the guys as we had about twelve new players making the trip, most of them from our youth team. I would go over a couple of things now and by the next few days I would have my final squad ready,” explained the former Strike Squad defender.

Striker Sylvester Teesdale was the only player to hit the mark twice in Guyana, first against Fruta Conquerors and then against Alpha United in the final match with Andre Alexis scoring the second while 18 year old invited Guyanese player Verlon Mills got the third item in Petrotrin’s 3-0 win.

Another player to get on the score sheet for the ‘Oilmen’ is former Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 World Cup player Jerrol Forbes who got the lone item in his teams’ win against Pele FC in their second match.

Williams also commented on Mills saying, “I saw him in our first match against Fruta Conquerors and he looked good. The coach of Conquerors and I are good friends and I asked for him to play with us in the final match. He went on 20 minutes from time and scored.

This is good on his part and we would keep him in mind looking into the new season,” ended Williams.

Two key Petrotrin players to miss the trip were Keon Daniel, Romauld Aguillera who are both currently on national duties with the Trinidad and Tobago senior team preparing for upcoming friendly matches ahead of the Gold Cup in June.
