English-based National Under-17 goalkeeper Andre Charles continues to impress during his training stint with Premiership club Chelsea and is confident that he will land a deal with the clubs Under-19 team.
Charles, born in Pt Fortin, has lived in England for the past ten years and made his debut for the T&T Under-17 team during last years Under-17 World qualifying matches in Bermuda. He recovered from a broken leg earlier this year and recently kept clean sheets in 7-0 and 2-0 victories over Reading and Fulham respectively. I am quietly confident of receiving an offer from Chelsea even though they just signed an Under-17 keeper from Belgium. I have been playing in the matches and things are looking good at the moment, said Charles.
He was in training with the team for a tournament in Italy last month from which Chelsea was forced to withdraw because of an air traffic control strike in Italy the week of the tournament. Teams such as AC Milan and Independiente from Argentina took part in the tournament.
