Several young aspiring footballers in TnT continue to vie for a chance to represent this country in a World Cup when they take to the fields for the closing stages of the Simpaul's National U-17 Championship starting on Sunday July 1, 2001.

Since May of this year, youngsters from throughout the twin island have been representing their respective local youth teams in a tournament which was organised by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation to allow members of the national team technical staff the opportunity to scout for talent which was not discovered previously.

Already TTFF Technical Director and U-17 Team Coach Professor Rene Simoes and his assistants found a talented forward from Tobago, Kevin Cooks, who has been outstanding in the local tournament.

Professor Simoes urged players to continue doing their best on the field, maintaining strong discipline at the same time as the door remains open to youngsters hoping to wear the national jersey at the World Youth Tournament.

"Over the past few weeks we have already found a player, Kevin Cooks from Tobago and the door remains open for other players to come into the team. There is no doubt that there is a lot of talent out there which has not been discovered as yet. We always want to have the best players possible and I am sure there are many players who want to play for their country," have been the words of an open eye Simoes.

These youngsters are our future "Soca Warriors". Show your support so they can show you what they've got.
