Star player Domico Coddington is back in Devonshire Cougars' lineup and not a moment too soon as the Big Cats face off against Trinidad and Tobago's Under 23 squad tonight at the National Sports Centre.
The Soca Warriors dismantled Bermuda's Under 23s 5-2 on Monday. Yet despite smashing five past a porous Bermuda defence Trinidad coach Zoran Vranes was far from satisfied with his team's overall performance.
And this, in turn, could spell trouble for Premier Division champions Cougars as the young Soca Warriors seek to get back on good terms with coach Vranes.
Kwame Steede and his Cougars' teammates are bracing themselves for any backlash sparked by Vranes' fierce criticism of his team's performance during their opening tour match.
Steede said: "Trinidad are one of the powerhouses in the Caribbean and so I expect a good game against them. I think they are going to come at us.
"They won 5-2 comfortably (against Bermuda Under 23s) but their performance level can come up even higher, and so I expect them to come at us harder than they did against the Under 23s."
He added: "When it comes to internationals you always put your best team forward and so I don't think Trinidad have brought mediocre players with them. They have brought the strongest team they have at that age. They are international footballers who are now at the age where they are considered as senior players."
Having earned the right to represent Bermuda in next year's CONCACAF Club Championship, Cougars will use tonight's match with the Soca Warriors as an ideal opportunity to expose some of their younger team members to high calibre opposition.
Steede said: "We have CONCACAF coming up and so this will be a great experience for a lot of our players. We are looking to get experience for our younger players and those who have yet to play international football."
Cougars, currently second in the Premier standings at the halfway stage of the season, are expected to be a full strength for the first time this season with the likes of Coddington and college kids Randy Robinson and Darius Cox back for the Christmas holidays.
Another player who could possibly make an appearance against the Soca Warriors tonight is veteran striker Aljame Zuill who is a late transfer from Devonshire Colts.
Steede added: "This is an opportunity for us to gauge ourselves to see where we are and hopefully we will be at full strength.
"I don't think we have a daunting task, but you can never take any game lightly."
