Super League champions Joe Public came from behind to upset struggling Pro League club St Ann’s Rangers in the TTFF FA Trophy competition, when the Round Eight of matches commenced on Sunday.
Joe Public, playing home at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, suffered a set back in the 26th minute when Devon Modeste put Rangers 1-0 up. One of Joe Public’s top forwards last season, Brent Antoine then put the two teams level in the 33rd minute. Dorion Robinson made it 2-1 in the 57th minute, before Antoine got his brace in the 83rd minute, to wrap up the win for the Super League outfit.
The result saw Rangers become the second Pro League club to exit the knock-out tournament. Other results saw another Super League team- WASA FC advance with a 2-1 win over Club Sando at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, thanks to a late winning strike from Fabien Garcia in the 87th, while Scarborough Secondary, the only Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) representative in the FA Trophy, defeated Caroni Samba on penalties after a 0-0 stalemate to move onto the round of eight.
OJ Soldado was the other team to advance with a 2-0 win over CFA’s Harlem Strikers. Three other matches, all off which are between Pro League clubs will be played this Sunday.
