A 38th minute headed item by Shahdon Winchester separated W Connection from rivals Adam’s Construction San Juan Jabloteh to a 1-0 win for the ‘Savonetta Boys’ on Sunday at the Ato Boldon Stadium in the FA Trophy competition.
It was one of those ‘special’ days for Connection, having also defeated its bitter rivals Jabloteh in the U14, U16 and U18 divisions of the Oasis Youth League earlier in the day at Gilbert Park in Couva.
Defence Force and Caledonia AIA joined Connection in the quarterfinal round of the FA by registering wins against fellow Pro League outfits Police FC and DIRECTV North East Stars.
Defence Force striker Richard Roy scored a double (14th and 84th minutes) and Josimar Belgrave in the 35th minute to override a pair of Trent Noel goals (13th and 39th minutes).
And following a 1-1 draw between North East Stars and Caledonia, the Morvant/Laventille club was better from the spot edging the Sangre Grande club 4-3 on penalties.
Connection, Defence Force and Caledonia joins Scarborough Secondary, O.J. Saldado, St. Francois Nationals, WASA FC (Super League) and Joe Public (Super League) for the quarterfinal draw on Tuesday.
