WEST END hold a slight advantage over reigning champions Global Encounter Ministries (GEMS) courtesy of a 1-0 win, on November 24, in the first leg of the Churches Football League Knockout Semi-final Round.

This was the fourth straight win for West End over GEMS this season, and Kareem Simon was the hero with a 20th minute free-kick which flew past the dive of goalkeeper Joel Thomas.

GEMS, winners of the past three Knockout crowns, were denied a change of an equaliser by poor finishing by their attacking players.

The other Semi-final first leg game, between Church on the Rock and Khandahar Open Bible, ended in a goalless draw, with the respective goalies Kevin Bonas (Church on the Rock) and Julius Charles (Khandahar) being the stars on show.

The second leg semi-final matches will take place tomorrow, with West End hosting GEMS at the Carenage Recreation Ground and Khandahar entertainings Church on the Rock at the Crown Street Recreation Ground, Tacarigua.
