FOOTBALL FANS were well entertained on Sunday with an intriguing double-header in the Caribbean Welders Fishing Pond Football League.

Manzan United climbed to third spot with a 3-1 victory over Two Touch. Manzan United’s captain Dakeil Ferriera continued his goalscoring form as he was first to find the back of net for his team.

Shortly after, Henderson Charles doubled Manzan’s lead which caused their opponents Two Touch to implode, resulting in one of their players being ejected for abusive language, ironically hurled towards his own teammates.

Two Touch regrouped and restructured their formation after the half-time break, but they were unable to prevent a third goal through Manzan’s Arieon De Gail.

Two Touch managed to score a late consolation goal but they remained without a point this season.

The much anticipated second game on Sunday featured the youthful SP Boys vs the physical Dream Team United. Aaron Sylvester drew first blood when he calmly slotted past the Dream Team’s goalkeeper with a low well-placed shot.

Dream Team drew level off a corner kick when defender Akeel Alvarez headed home after a sub-par punch by the SP Boys goal keeper.

But SP Boys got the game-winner through Brent Jackson, who curled a right-footed shot in the dying moments of the match.

Saturday also featured a double- header – Gremio vs Express and Dragon FC vs El Carmen.

Sherman De Gazon was a oneman wrecking crew, scoring a beaver trick in Gremio’s 5-1 hammering of Express. His first goal came in the first half, but this was cancelled by Zavion Navarro. Gremio came back strongly to regain the lead through Aleandro Jones, before De Gazon completed the rout.

In the latter game, Dragon FC strolled to a 4-0 triumph with a double from Dillion Thomas and one apiece from John Belgrave and an own goal. In other games during the week, on Thursday, goals in each half by Raqweeb Searles and Dillion Ramsammy respectively gave Fishing Pond Youths a 2-0 victory over Alliance and on Monday, G Madrid made it two victories in a row after a 3-1 result over Fishing Pond Youths.
