Maloney Academy continued its dream run in the Emerald Apartments and Plaza Eastern Football Association League Cup with a 2-1 win over current Premier Division League leader, Carib in the quarter finals on Thursday. After a goaless first half at St Augsutine, the “Brewery Boys” took a 59th minute lead through Kevorn Thomas.
However, Maloney hit back with goals from Manu John (61st) and Khalid Critchlow (72nd) to secure a semifinal spot against Upper Santa Cruz on Thursday at Maloney.
Carifigus Diaz netted a second half brace in the 61st and 70th minutes for Santa Cruz to shut-out WASA 2-0 in its last-eight match-up at the Arnold Dwarika Ground. In the other semifinal to be played at Maracas Recreation Ground, Real Maracas will host Prisons.
This after Real Maracas blanked Boss 2-0 with goals from Arlington Alvarez and Dillon Bartholomew. Prisons won by default from Barataria Ball Players to be the other team to advance.
