Thirteen teams have qualified for the grand final of the Republic Bank Youth Football tournament, as action in the 15th edition competition shifted to Guaracara Park in Pointe a Pierre yesterday.

Heavy showers during the day’s proceeding played havoc with the match schedule but failed to derailed the spirits of the 39 teams, which participated. Duntan Williams Soccer Academy, Moruga FC and Point Fortin Civic Centre were the team, which advance in the Under 17 age group on the day.

Duntan Williams won all of their four matches as they topped group A with ten points scoring four goals and conceding two. While Moruga FC also finished their schedule unbeaten topping Group B with 11 points having scored eight goals and conceding two.

Point Fortin Civic Centre, who were the second place finishers in Group B with seven points qualified after winning a playoff against El Primero, who finished second in Group A with 9 points.

In the Under 15 division Uprising Youths, St Madeline Strikers and Moruga FC were the teams, which qualified. St Madeline Striker earned their stop by topping Group A with seven points finishing the day with a record of two wins and a loss having scored five goals and conceding one.

While Moruga FC remained unbeaten to top Group B with 9 points having scored eight goals without conceding. Uprising Youths finished with a record of three wins and one lose as they topped Group C with nine points to secure their place in the final.

Gasparillo Youths, Marabella Family Crisis Centre, San Fernando Sports Academy Superstars and Duntan Williams Soccer Academy were the team, which qualified for the national final in the Under 12 division.

While in the Under 10 age group Marabella Family Crisis Centre, Duntan Williams Soccer Academy and Point Fortin Civic Centre were the team, which qualified.

Teams in this year Republic Bank Youth tournament will vie for over $70,000 in prizes as well as 120 scholarships valued at $200,000 to the Republic Bank Football Cup, which will be held during the Easter and summer vacation period.

The camps, which are part of Republic’s Power to Make a Difference Programme, which was launched in November 2003, this initiative would see $40 million spent over five years to various community projects and NGO’s. The grande finale will be played at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain on August 15th.
