KASSEEM KARIFA netted a beaver-trick as Joe Public hammered Prisons SC 7-0 on Saturday, at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, as the Emerald Apartments and Plaza-sponsored Eastern Football Association (EFA) Premiership Division began.
Karifa found the back of the net in the 5th, 25th, 27th and 42nd minutes while Prisons’ misery were compounded by strikes from Kermater Morris (40th), Christopher Sutherland (51st) and Kashif Clarke (86th).
FC Santa Rosa spanked Upper Santa Cruz 5-1 at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) O’Meara campus in Arima.
Jovan Rochford netted twice for the victors, in the 37th and 67th (penalty), while Robert Alexis (19th), Christian Young (82nd) and Michael Hospedales (90th) added one apiece. Kevon Modeste got the consolation for Santa Cruz in the 57th.
Trevor Bobb got the winner as WASA edged FC Maloney 2-1 at Maloney.
Stephan Joseph’s 37th minute strike gave WASA a 1-0 lead at the half but Levi Gay levelled the scores in the 49th. However, Bobb notched the game-clinching item in the 66th.
The Carib FC-Valtrin United contest, which was due to take place in St Augustine, was postponed to a date to be announced.
In the First Division, Pinto United trounced Barataria Ball Players 5-0 with Joachim Bastaldo (22nd), Winstare Williams (39th), Francis Riley (51st), Brian Pierre (66th) and Jerome Millard (81st) getting their names on the scoresheet.
Creek SCC earned a narrow 4-3 win over Tunapuna Titans in another First Division contest.
Trent Cockburn (22nd), Quesi Alleyne (25th), Drayne Alexis (43rd) and Kevin Mohammed (69th) were on target for Creek while Rodney Ramjit (22nd), Kashiff Bascombe (45th) and Kevin Mungo (67th) replied for Tunapuna.
The other First Division meeting saw La Horquetta XF defeat La Horquetta Academy 4-2.
Anslem Jackson put XF ahead in the 37th but Omeku Mulhuz evened up the scores two minutes later.
Neil Mitchell restored XF’s lead in the 49th before Omeka Barrington equalised in the 62nd, but there was a final twist to the tale as Mitchell (71st) and Dasean Waldrop (76th) sealed the win.
