WASA FC got the better of Carib FC 3-2 on Tuesday in the Second Round of the Eastern Football Association (EFA) Premiership Division.
WASA sent the faithful fans at St Joseph in a frenzy when Akil Thomas broke the deadlock, before Curtis Andrews knotted up the scores for Carib in the 24th.
Dillan McCarthy restored WASA’s lead in the 51st but Kevon Thomas put Carib level for the second time in the game, in the 70th.
There was a final twist to the tale, as Deryl Castillo got the game-winner in the 79th.
Joe Public held off a determined challenge from Malabar FC to prevail 4-2 at the Arima Municipal Stadium.
Mohammed Nakhid’s sixth-minute item put Joe Public ahead before Malabar replied with strikes from Kevon Cornwell (22nd) and Shane Hospedales (39 th).
Joe Public did not lie down and die, and they got the equaliser from Jason Cudjoe (47th) and went ahead for good with Kassin Karin (54th) and Natthan Patterson (80th) on target.
St John’s United played to an entertaining 3-3 tie with FC Santa Rosa at St John’s Road, St Augustine.
Sylvestre Madray’s penalty put St John’s ahead in the 27th minute but Santa Rosa responded with a pair, from Michael Hospedales (49th) and Jovan Rochford (55th).
St John’s tilted the balance in their favour, when Rick Theroulde (62nd) and Jerry Lewis (78th) put them 3-2 up, but ex-Trinidad and Tobago youth team utility player Jean-Luc Rochford ensured a share of the points when he netted in the 82nd. And, at the Prisons Ground in Arouca, Prisons FC and FC Maloney also battled to a nail-biting 3-3 draw.
