Pinto United Sports Club are currently atop the table on five points even though they were held to an exciting 4-4 draw against Boss FC in their third match of the Eastern Football Association (EFA) at the Aranguez Savannah, on Sunday.
The Arima-based club were caught off-guard in the early stages of the first half and went 2-0 down after the first 15 minutes. A fighting Pinto United saw Winspare Williams get them off the mark to carry the score to 2-1.
Motivated by their fight-back, Pinto United president Brian Bain, equalised in the 35th minute and took the score to 2-2. The goal-filled first half was not done as Boss FC regained control and netted in the 40th (3-2).
However, a persistent Nathan Regis of Pinto levelled the scores just before half-time, and carried the score to 3-3.
At the resumption, club president Bain netted a beauty from on top the 18-yard box in the 65th minute, to give Pinto United their first chance ahead. Their reign was short-lived when Boss FC were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute. They made no mistake and both teams earned one point as the game closed with a thrilling 4-4 score-line.
Pinto United will play their fourth match-up against La Horquetta XF this weekend. Sunday’s matches also saw La Horquetta Academy clinch a narrow 1-0 victory against the Tunapuna Titans at Constantine Park, Macoya. La Horquetta’s Kesta “Kessy” Jones was the lone goal scorer when he found the back of the net in the 25th minute.
