The league’s leading goal scorer Teba McKnight welcomed the return of the blink/bmobile National Super League (NSL), yesterday, with another hat-trick as he helped his team, Club Sando, remain on top of the standings for a 5-0 win over Tobago outfit Bethel United.

The win extended Club Sando’s prolific run this season, while its nearest challenger Malabar FC, capitalised on Guaya United’s bye with another comfortable win, this time a 3-0 victory over Real Maracas. Gorian Highley bagged a first half brace for the Malabar giants, while Cyrano Glen completed the simple win with a goal 10 minutes from time.

Club Sando’s win kept it in the lead with 38 points, while Malabar soared into second spot, trailing the leader by two points. Guaya United which was on a bye for the match day dropped into third, but remains with two matches in hand over Malabar and one over Club Sando.

The top three teams will now continue a string of matches in the league’s resumption on Wednesday in three rescheduled fixtures. Again, all top three teams will be back in action with a full round of matches on Sunday.

In other key matches yesterday, WASA FC, the defending champion, continued its woeful run this season, remaining dead last after suffering a late 1-0 loss to Defence Force. After squandering a number of chances, the Waterboys succumbed to the Teteron Boys, when Jahvon Neptune scored the winning effort five minutes from full time. WASA, apart from a default win, has failed to wrap up a single victory in 17 matches this season.

The two other Tobago clubs, 1976 FC Phoenix and Stokely Vale, secured wins over 2011 treble winner Joe Public (4-2) and Siparia Spurs (1-0), respectively.
